Trainee Position
The Grain Terminal Operations Management (GTOM)Â Trainee position is a 24-month training assignment that is divided into three stages. New employees are stationed at one of approximately 50 elevators across the U.S. Midwest, then, in stage two, they move to a different elevator or terminal for additional training. Stage three focuses on continuous career advancement with discussions about how trainees can move up to become supervisors, superintendents, multiple- location managers, middle managers and corporate-level executives.
The training program is hands-on; the trainees learn by performing the work with proper safety training and supervision.
In the first five to seven years with ADM, an individual should expect to relocate two to three times. Relocation generally involves a promotion. Elevator operations may seasonally require longer working hours, shift work and weekend work. Some locations may have full-time shift work and/or weekend schedules.
Requirements
Candidates must have at least a two-year degree in agriculture-related studies.
Internship Position
A summer internship with ADM offers students the opportunity to unlock their potential. Our 10-12 week program invites students to challenge their abilities as they learn about Grain Terminal Operations Management.
Students may find themselves working in different locations across the Midwest, but all internships expose students to real-life work situations within the competitive agricultural industry. Our program promotes student development while providing a training ground for potential future employees. It begins with a kick-off orientation in May and wraps up at summer’s end. For interns about to begin their senior year at school, a formal employment interview brings closure to the internship experience.
