Boat Captain
ARTCO boat captains are classified as supervisors who are responsible for the overall operation of boats and management of their crews. Boat captains promote a team environment according to ARTCO’s policies and procedures, and support the decisions of ARTCO’s management. They lead and enforce crewmembers’ responsibilities under ADM’s and ARTCO’s safety programs. Captains have ultimate responsibility for fleet security and operations, for completing required reports and logs, and for conducting safety meetings, audits and inspections.
To promote safety, captains ensure that crewmembers report injuries, illnesses and near-misses in a timely manner. They also,enforce disciplinary policies and report problems with or damage to ARTCO equipment.
Requirements
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Candidates must maintain the proper licensing, documentation, endorsements and credentials. Job skills and abilities to operate a vessel in a safe and efficient manner are required.
