ADM is proud to recognize our colleagues who volunteered countless hours to help their neighbors when floodwaters inundated the Midwest this past June. ADM colleagues generously gave their time, used their training and extended extra effort to help sandbag levees, clean up storm debris, recruit and organize volunteers, and offer solace and assistance to displaced families.
ADM truck drivers from the Cedar Rapids facility loaded and delivered a steady supply of clean water to local residents, hospitals, Red Cross centers and emergency animal shelters.
Meanwhile, Chad Dunham, safety director at ADM’s Cedar Rapids Ethanol Facility, worked with the Linn County Haz-Mat Team to locate, identify and secure loose barrels of potentially dangerous chemicals and other floating debris. “This was a case where our expertise in safety, and crisis management could make a real difference and I was eager to do everything possible to assist in the relief and recovery effort,” said Dunham.
We at ADM applaud the Flood Recovery team for the dedication, determination and compassion they demonstrated throughout this crisis. Dunham added, “In the worst of circumstances, our community proved its resilience and strength. We’re proud to be here.”
Cedar Rapids has been home to the ADM Corn Processing facility for 37 years and was ADM’s very first wet mill operation. Now both a wet and dry mill, the facility produces products ranging from corn sweeteners and starches to animal feed and ethanol. ADM also owns a co-generation facility on the property that produces enough steam and electricity to meet all the plant’s power needs. ADM Trucking, Railcar Repair and Emissions Measurement Groups are also located in Cedar Rapids. These facilities combined employ more than 1,300 ADM colleagues and contract workers.
