As we celebrate Global Safety Week, ADM is pleased to recognize our Decatur Cogeneration facility for working to keep each other safe. The site’s 61 employees and 70 contractors have worked more than three years without a lost workday safety incident—and they continue to extend that record every day.
Safety is a priority at the facility, where nearly 60 percent of employees and contractors participate in a workplace initiative that encourages safe behavior by training employees and contractors to observe safe behaviors and provide positive feedback.
Cogeneration contractors in particular have improved their safety record, with most working multiple years since their last recordable incident. Contractors at work in the Cogeneration facility come from Alert, All-Tri-R, Kelly, GST and Bodine Services.
Employee committees have spearheaded additional safety activities, including updating safety rules and procedures promoting safety through posters and banners throughout the facility, recognizing colleagues in their newsletter and helping organize Family Safety Day.
Congratulations to the Decatur Cogeneration team for its noteworthy safety performance.
Decatur has been home to the ADM Corporate Headquarters since 1969. Within the community, ADM has over 50 locations and employs more than 4,600 people. The Decatur Cogeneration facility provides steam and 60 percent of the electricity needed for the entire ADM Decatur complex. Most of the steam and electricity is produced from a mixture of Illinoismined, low-sulfur coal and limestone, resulting in a very clean-burning process.
