George W. Buckley

George W. BuckleyGeorge W. Buckley joined ADM’s board of directors in February 2008 and currently serves as a member of its audit committee. 

Buckley is chairman, president and chief executive officer of 3M, a diversified global technology company whose products serve a broad range of consumers and businesses in industries such as health care, electronics, telecommunications, construction and transportation.  He was appointed to his current position in 2005.

Prior to joining 3M, Buckley had been chairman and chief executive officer of Brunswick Corporation, a market leader in the marine, fitness, bowling and billiards industries.

Earlier in his career, he was president of both the U.S. Electric Motors Division and the Automotive and Precision Motors Division of Emerson Electric Co. in St. Louis.  He has also served as managing director (president) of the Central Services Division of the British Railways Board in the U.K.

Buckley serves on the board of directors of Black & Decker and on the board of trustees at St. Thomas University in St. Paul, Minn. He holds a doctoral degree in engineering from the University of Southampton and Huddersfield in the U.K., as well as an honorary doctoral degree and a bachelor’s degree in electrical and electronic engineering from the University of Huddersfield.
