Patrick J. Moore

Patrick J. MoorePatrick J. Moore joined ADM’s board of directors in November 2003.  He serves as lead director and as a member of the executive committee and the compensation/succession committee.

Moore has been chairman and chief executive officer of Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation, a producer of containerboard and corrugated packaging and one of the world’s largest paper recyclers, since January 2002.

Moore joined the former Jefferson Smurfit Corporation in 1987 as assistant treasurer and was promoted in succession to treasurer, vice president and general manager of the company's Industrial Packaging division, and chief financial officer before being named president and CEO in 2002. He was elected chairman of the board in 2003.  Jefferson Smurfit became Smurfit-Stone following the 1998 merger of Jefferson Smurfit Corporation and Stone Container.

Earlier in his career, Moore held various positions in corporate lending, international banking and corporate administration at Continental Bank in Chicago.

He serves on JP Morgan’s National Advisory Board and on the board of directors of the American Forest & Paper Association, the International Corrugated Case Association, the Sustainable Forestry Board, Metropolitan YMCA of St. Louis, Boys Hope/Girls Hope, and the Big Shoulders Fund. 

Moore holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from DePaul University and currently serves on the university’s board of trustees.
