Black Bean

 Bandit
Black Bandit* is a full season maturing, indeterminate upright vine (type 2) which is adapted to MN/DAK. Bandit’s* upright structure gives good pod clearance and makes it a variety that is adaptable to direct harvest. Bandit* has a dull black seed coat and has acceptable canning quality. The variety Bandit* has consistently shown erect structure, improved pod clearance, and resistance to lodging as compared to T-39**.

 Black 06252
Black Bean 06252, an AmeriSeed variety distributed by Seedwest, is an upright medium-profile variety which holds pods better and is less floppy than T-39. It also has better architecture and could be direct harvested.

 Loreto
Loreto, a new upright medium profile black variety from Ameriseed distributed by Seedwest for further testing in the MINDAK region. Loreto holds pods off the ground better and is less floppy than T-39 with seed size and color comparable to T-39. Loreto carries the “I” gene for Bean Common Mosaic Virus and has demonstrated rust resistance in the CSU bean rust nursery in 2004 and 2007.

 Shadow
Shadow has a unique upright short runner growth habit.It has a semi-determinate short vine plant, but appears like a tall bush since it has a very short runner on top of the plant. Combined with the very upright structure and a stiff main stem, it is a strong branching plant with a high scattered pod set.

 Shania
Black Shania* is a full season maturing, indeterminate upright vine (type 2) which is adapted to MN/DAK. Shania’s* upright structure gives good pod clearance and makes it a variety that is adaptable to direct harvest. Shania* has a dull black seed coat and has acceptable canning quality.
