The proprietary ADM Glycols technology uses a catalytic process known as hydrogenolysis to readily convert glycerin into propylene glycol. The reaction between glycerin and hydrogen takes place at high temperature and pressure over a unique catalyst to produce propylene glycol and water. As a result, propylene glycol is then purified to either industrial-grade or USP-specifications-grade using ADM’s expertise in separation technology.
Propylene Glycol Industrial Grade (PGI)
Propylene Glycol Industrial Grade is a colorless, odorless and slightly viscous liquid.
Applications
Propylene Glycol USP (meets USP Specifications)
Propylene Glycol (PG USP/EP) is a pharmacopeia-specifications-grade excipient of monopropylene glycol (PG or MPG) with a specified purity greater than 99.5%. PG USP/EP is tested for compliance with the current United States Pharmacopeia (USP).
