Evolution Chemicals incorporates the Twelve Principles of Green Chemistry* whenever possible, and the production of propylene glycol is no exception.  Our propylene glycol only contains renewable bio-sources of carbon, with waste being prevented, recycled or turned into feedstock for another product.

ADM uses renewable and sustainable glycerol which is a byproduct in the production of biodiesel from vegetable oils. This glycerol is then cleaned and sold or used as an input in the production of propylene glycol.  The process of changing glycerol to propylene glycol is a simple chemical reaction that uses no environmentally harmful chemicals and uses only water for solvent; thus minimizing risk of harm to the environment.  ADM’s propylene glycol manufacturing byproducts are reused. The solid catalyst used in the process has a long life and, when exhausted, the metals are reclaimed and recycled rather than sent to a landfill.
