Creating a sweet
supply chain
for sugar

During our 2010 fiscal year, ADM began operations at the company’s first joint venture sugar ethanol plant in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil.

As we added sugarcane to our raw materials supply chain, our joint venture launched a Social and Environmental Education program for local community members; developed several courses to improve the work skills of local employees; offered courses for harvest machine drivers, tractor operators and other workers to support sugarcane production in the field; invested to improve local roads and new bridges; and provided a ferry service across the river Parnaiba to benefit area residents.
