Reducing emissions per unit of production, 2010-12

Emissions-reduction efforts show company on track to meet 2020 goal

From 2010 to 2012, ADM succeeded in reducing CO2 emissions intensity—the ratio of emissions to production volumes in our plants—by 2.6 percent.

Emissions from ADM processing operations are primarily a function of energy use and the type of fuel we use to power our operations. As we continue implementing more than 100 energy efficiency projects that are in our pipeline, we expect emissions on a per-unit-of-production basis to decline at a rate that will enable us to reach our goal of a 15 percent intensity improvement by 2020.
