Advancing our EMS and EMIS rollout
In 2012 and the first half of 2013, ADM continued implementing a global Environmental Management System and accompanying Environmental Management Information System designed to strengthen our environmental-stewardship and risk-mitigation efforts. Our EMS sets forth a detailed set of procedures and practices to identify and address our company’s environmental impacts, while the EMIS provides technological support, as well as data-collection and analysis capabilities. The final phase of our global EMIS implementation will begin in late 2013, and our U.S. facilities will complete their EMS implementation in 2014. A global rollout will follow.
As part of the EMS implementation, in April 2013, ADM issued its first formal Environmental Policy, which replaced the company’s previous Environmental Mission and Principles statement. The new policy is available here.
Giving our operations teams the power to conserve
ADM is also implementing a companywide utility management system that allows teams at more than 630 ADM facilities to monitor resource usage, emissions and various other trends on a 24/7 basis via a Web-based system. At the same time, more than 300 of our site engineers have been participating in energy management workshops to help them identify new resource-saving projects and share best practices.
