ADM sources cocoa beans in Indonesia, which are shipped to Singapore and the Americas for processing. ADM processes the beans into cocoa butter, cocoa liquor, cocoa powder and chocolates, which are used by customers to create confections, baked goods, cereals, dairy products and other foods.
ADM also has ownership interest in Singapore-based Wilmar International Limited, which has locations in Indonesia. Wilmar is Asia’s largest agricultural processing business, and operates palm plantations; crushing facilities for various types of oilseeds; vegetable oil refineries and packaging facilities; plants that produce oleo chemicals, soy proteins and fertilizers; and multiple wheat and rice milling operations.
In addition, ADM works with the World Cocoa Foundation to help improve cocoa farmers’ land stewardship practices, yields and incomes.
