ADM Far East Ltd. was established in Tokyo in 1978 to market products in Japan and nearby countries such as Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia and Indonesia. We market and transport cocoa, grains, oils, feed and ingredients for food, feed, industrial products and nutritional products.
Japan is one of the largest importers of U.S. wheat, corn and soybeans. Consumers care greatly about the quality and safety of food. To meet their needs, ADM uses its extensive global distribution network and capabilities to supply innovative, reliable and high-quality ingredients and agricultural products, including identity-preserved grains, oilseeds and other soy-based ingredients.
A key part of ADM’s Asia strategy today is our strategic ownership interest in Wilmar International Limited, Asia’s premiere agricultural processing business, which has locations in Australia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia and Singapore, and in other parts of the world. Wilmar operates palm plantations; crushing facilities for various types of oilseeds; vegetable oil refineries and packaging facilities; plants that produce oleo chemicals, soy proteins and fertilizers; and multiple wheat and rice milling facilities.
ADM employs approximately 20 people in Japan.
