Technical Service Department

ADM’s Technical Service Department (TSD) provides a range of services, both through local facilities and by utilising ADM’s European Research Centre in Hamburg, Germany.

Our pilot scale processing plant can provide our customers with samples of frying oils, cake margarines, shortenings, puff pastry laminating fats and craft and specialty fats from one kilogram to one hundred kilogram quantities.

We can also supply other novel blends formulated to meet specific nutritional, performance and specification requirements.

We have a full baking facility and test kitchen for development trials, as well as for quality control testing of oils and fats.

Through our European Research Centre in Hamburg, we carry out analyses and product development, using the latest analytical techniques and pilot plant equipment. We refine oils on pilot and laboratory scale batch sizes, create pilot scale margarines and shortening samples, and carry out a number of other research and analytical techniques to provide customers with the best possible technical and innovative solutions.

Role of the TSD
Our Technical Service Department focuses on quality assurance and technical compliance for all raw materials and finished products to ensure that European food standards and regulations are met.  The TSD provides support and information to meet individual customer requirements ensuring that they in turn can provide the information required for their customers.  Our team of experts can advise on the right product for our customer’s application and business needs.

New Product Development
The TSD works closely with ADM’s Research and Development department and the commercial group to develop ADM branded products. The department also works with customers in support of their product developments. The TSD can provide bespoke blends to meet nutrition and performance requirements and can also work in partnership with customers who wish to undertake value enhancement projects.

Research
The TSD links with several institutions for both legal and emerging issues that enhance technical support to our customers. Through our European Research Centre in Hamburg we can provide up-to-date advances in the oils and fats industry.
