Sustainability and The ADM Way

Mindful that the vast size, scope and reach of our enterprise impacts communities, organizations and individuals nationwide, ADM’s 16,000 U.S. employees work diligently to ensure that our impact remains overwhelmingly positive.

Our commitment to sustainability involves a companywide effort to ensure that our operations are environmentally sound; economically beneficial to our colleagues, operating communities and business partners; and consistent with the highest standards of ethics and integrity. We fulfill this commitment by working to more effectively manage water resources and reduce emissions at our processing plants; by sourcing crops from growers and cooperatives that adhere to environmentally and socially responsible agricultural and labor practices; by making targeted civic and charitable contributions to worthy causes that make our communities more vibrant places to live and work; and by maintaining strict standards of ethics and accountability and promoting diversity and inclusion in every aspect of our operations. The ADM Way, our corporate statement of values, conduct and ethics, articulates our commitments to, and expectations of, our business’s various stakeholders.

We have strengthened our corporate-giving strategy with the launch of ADM Cares. ADM Cares targets one percent of pretax earnings to investments that support safe, responsible and environmentally sound agricultural practices. At the local level, we continue to support educational initiatives for children and young adults and other programs that build vibrant communities. ADM employees, meanwhile, direct a substantial portion of their social investment and volunteer activity through our Colleague Giving Council, which coordinates our in-kind food donations and community volunteer program.
