ADM is also developing crop-based alternatives to other products made from petroleum, such as plastics and chemicals. In cooperation with the bioscience company Metabolix Inc., we are producing a line of natural, renewable, sustainable and biodegradable plastics under the Mirel™ brand name. We are also collaborating with PolyOne Corporation to develop bio-based plasticizers – naturally derived chemicals used to make plastics softer and more flexible.
