In February 2011, ADM announced an investment in a sustainable palm growing and processing operation in São Domingos do Capim, Pará, in cooperation with local farmers and the Brazilian government.
The production side of the operation will encompass a total of 2.030 hectares –– operated by about 270 family farmers. ADM is providing these farmers with technical assistance focused on sustainable agricultural practices. Overall, the company’s investment in Pará should provide higher farm incomes that are expected to benefit approximately 3,000 people in the area.
The first palm harvest happened at December 2015.
