Soy Moratorium on Amazon Biome

ADM has signed the Soy Moratorium, making a commitment not to purchase soy grown in newly deforested areas of the Amazonia Biome.

The Soy Moratorium is an initiative led by ABIOVE (Brazilian Association of Vegetal Oil Industry) and ANEC (National Association of Cereal Exporters) to meet the demand of the international market for sustainable soy, which comprises around 90% of the soy market in Brazil.

Monitoring of deforested areas is done by satellite imagery. This monitoring system allows members of the Moratorium to be confident in purchasing soy from farmers who have been compliant with the Moratorium, while also blocking farmers who are not compliant with the moratorium from selling their production to the Soy Moratorium members.
