ADM in China

ADM’s partnership with China began in the mid-1990s, when we acquired an animal feed pre-mix plant in Dalian to provide feed for the livestock, poultry, dairy and aquaculture industries. Over the next 10 years, through partnerships, ADM introduced packaged vegetable oil to Chinese consumers.

In 2005, ADM opened a trading office in Shanghai to manage the sale of specialty food ingredients such as lecithin, xanthan gum, acidulants, vitamin E, and feed ingredients like Lysine. In 2011, we opened a Beijing office and Shanghai management company to coordinate all of our business activities in the Asia-Pacific region. In 2014, ADM opened an integrated manufacturing complex producing sweeteners in Tianjin Binhai New Area. That same year, ADM acquired WILD Flavors GmbH, a leading supplier of natural ingredients, providing ADM customers with access to our flavor production plant in Beijing and a flavor creation lab in Shanghai.

In 2015, ADM started operations at a Fibersol® plant in Tianjin and operated the animal nutrition premix plant in Nanjing. The following years, 2 more animal nutrition premix plants were opened in Zhangzhou and Xiangtan. In 2018, ADM opened a technical innovation center in Shanghai, and a new commercial office in Guangzhou. In early 2019, ADM completed our acquisition of Neovia – a global animal nutrition company, allowing ADM to expand further our business in pet care, animal nutrition premix development and animal nutrition additives. ADM recently completed an expansion project at our Beijing facility, and is building a new flavor production facility in Pinghu, Zhejiang Province.

Today, ADM has approximately 1000 employees in China. Our team in China strives to serve the country’s needs for a secure, safe and sustainable food supply. For China, a country that has only 9 percent of the world’s arable land and 22 percent of its global population, food security is always a priority. ADM’s global sourcing capabilities and efficient processing operations can help ensure the accessibility and affordability of foodstuffs by utilizing both domestic and international sources for raw materials. Our transportation network and logistics expertise enable us to help reduce food costs and waste, and provide access to nutrition worldwide.
