ADM to Expand Grain and Rapeseed Storage Capacity in Magdeburg, Germany
Archer Daniels Midland Company (NYSE: ADM) today announced plans to expand grain and rapeseed storage capacity through the construction of four new silos at its Silo Rothensee site in Magdeburg, Germany. The expansion project will increase the facility’s storage capacity by 50 percent to accommodate larger origination volumes and production yields in the region.
“To accommodate farmers’ increased production while continuing to ensure the quality of the raw food materials we store, we are enhancing storage capacities at our Silo Rothensee facility in Magdeburg,” said Tido Boehle, general manager of Origination and Terminals, ADM Oilseeds. “The expansion in this important location supports ADM’s growth strategy and commitment to the region by increasing our agricultural storage capacities and connecting local crops with global markets.”
ADM’s Silo Rothensee is a key origination facility in eastern Germany, offering local farmers access to attractive export markets throughout Western Europe. The facility’s location at the confluence of the Elbe River and the Midland Canal allows access to transportation networks that connect Central European origination regions to markets in Germany and the Netherlands.
In addition to storage capabilities, ADM also offers farmers expertise in local and global agricultural markets. At ADM, growers find knowledgeable merchandisers and innovative contract alternatives to help them market their crops in the most effective and profitable way.
Construction at the facility has already begun. Two of the four new silos will be operational this month, while the remaining two silos are expected to be operational by the end of the year.
