Scaling Regenerative Agriculture Across Europe

ADM's value chain stretches from thousands of farmers to millions of customers spanning food, animal feed, fuel, industrial and consumer products. From that vantage point, regenerative agriculture represents an opportunity to support farmers' livelihoods, build more resilient supply chain and generate business value, both for ADM and our customers, by meeting growing demand.

Regenerative agriculture is an outcome-based approach to farming that protects and improves soil health, supports sustainability outcomes and ultimately creates greater value for farmers. It encompasses practices like reducing tillage, planting cover crops and managing inputs responsibly – grounded in the understanding that no two farms are alike.

In 2023, ADM launched its European regenerative agriculture program to provide financial and technical support to farmers who are adopting regenerative practices. This initiative forms part of our global re:generations™ program, which expanded to five million acres in 2024 – exceeding our 2025 goal a year ahead of schedule.

Across Europe, the program continues to gain momentum. Today, more than 80,000 acres are enrolled across key agricultural regions, including wheat and canola fields in Poland, soy in Serbia, sunflower and soy in Hungary, and wheat, barley, and canola in the UK and Germany. By the end of this year, the program will extend over 160,000 acres (approximately 65,000 hectares) across the region.

Strategic partnerships play a critical role in the program's success. ADM works with technical partners such as Map of Ag and Ceres Rural in the UK, Klim in Germany, and Bayer & Biospheres in Poland. These partnerships are designed to benefit farmers as much as the wider supply chain. Growers receive regular feedback on key performance indicators including carbon sequestration, soil health improvements, and biodiversity benefits. This empowers them to benchmark their progress and make data-informed decisions.

ADM also plays a central role in connecting farmers to major global food companies that are essential partners in scaling sustainable practices. Across Europe, we partner with companies like Mars, PepsiCo, and Ooni to expand financial incentives and lower adoption barriers.
