ADM Secures UK Rights to Sweet GypMarl in Potential Boost for Slurry-Based Grassland Performance

2026-06-09

ROLLE – ADM has secured exclusive UK distribution rights for Sweet GypMarl, a granular fertiliser from British Gypsum designed to improve the performance of slurry-based grassland systems.

While slurry and manure provide valuable NPK (nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium), they are often unbalanced, typically delivering high potassium relative to sodium and readily available sulphur.¹ This can limit nutrient use efficiency and grass utilisation. In the UK, nutrient planning is commonly guided by RB209, which highlights the importance of balancing nutrients from both fertilisers and organic manures.²

Use of balanced nutrients in line with RB209 guidance can support more efficient nutrient use and help reduce avoidable losses where imbalances exist.²

Sweet GypMarl is designed to address these gaps, supplying a defined nutrient balance of 16% SO₃, 7% Na₂O, 3% MgO and 15% CaO, helping improve nutrient use and forage output.

In controlled trials where sulphur deficiency was present, correcting it increased grass yields from 9 t/ha to 15.8 t/ha, underlining the importance of balanced nutrients.¹

Supplied as a cold-pressed granule, the product delivers consistent spreading up to 36m and rapid nutrient availability, making it easy to integrate into existing fertiliser programmes.¹

Manufactured in the UK using locally sourced minerals, Sweet GypMarl is also verified for use in organic systems, providing an option for farmers working within organic systems or where nutrient balancing is required.³

Chris Guest, Head of Agri-Inputs at ADM Agriculture Ltd, said: "With ADM supporting the rollout through nationwide distribution and technical guidance, Sweet GypMarl helps farmers get more from nutrients already on farm. By addressing imbalances in slurry-based systems, it supports better grass growth, improved utilisation and can enhance livestock performance."

Sweet GypMarl is available through ADM across the UK. For more information, visit www.adm-agri.co.uk or contact adm.agriculture.fertiliser@adm.com.

Notes to Editors
¹ Sweet GypMarl datasheet: 16% SO₃, 15% CaO, 7% Na₂O and 3% MgO; designed to complement slurry systems typically high in potassium but low in sodium and sulphur; spreads to 36m; Nottingham University trials showed yield increase from 9 t/ha to 15.8 t/ha. Performance results may vary depending on soil conditions, nutrient status, and management practices.
