ADM Olomouc Supports Women for Women to Provide School Lunches for Disadvantaged Children
Children from disadvantaged backgrounds will now be able to enjoy lunch with their classmates throughout the year, thanks to a generous donation from ADM Olomouc through an ADM Cares grant. The company has donated $40,000 (just under one million CZK) to Women to Women, an organization dedicated to helping children in difficult life situations.
"We divided the amount between the Lunches for Children and SOS for Kindergarten projects. In these projects, we provide school meals to children whose parents cannot afford to pay for them. It is hard to imagine what it is like when a child sits on the sidelines at break time because they have nothing to eat. Every extra lunch means not only a full plate but also a feeling of belonging among others," explains Barbora Nejedla, project coordinator at Women for Women.
This significant donation will transform the entire school year for almost a hundred children, allowing them to enjoy lunch with their friends without feeling excluded. For nursery meals, the impact is even greater, as it enables children to start pre-school on time and allows the caring parent to return to work.
"Through this donation, we hope to help address food security within our local community by supporting Women for Women's initiatives to enable children access to essential nutrition. We are proud to support their efforts and help contribute to families and children having a good start in life," says Jakub Černík, Commercial Manager, ADM Olomouc.
"We are extremely grateful that the company's representatives were so deeply interested in our issues and were able to empathize with our projects. You can see that they didn't just care about numbers, but really understood that behind every lunch there is a specific child and his often very moving story," adds Barbora Nejedla.
ADM's contribution is provided through ADM Cares which helps sustain and strengthen communities where ADM colleagues work, live and operate by directing funding, volunteerism, and industry knowledge to initiatives and organizations that drive meaningful social, economic and environmental progress worldwide.
