ADM Volunteers Brainstorm Ideas To Help a Child Facing Critical Illness Fulfill Wish
On Sept. 24, 2024, 14 volunteers from ADM's team in Rolle, Switzerland partnered with Make-A-Wish Foundation of Switzerland and Liechtenstein (Make-A-Wish) to brainstorm and propose innovative ideas to help bring a wish made by a child facing a critical illness to life.
ADM hosted a Wish Challenge Workshop at the ADM EMEA headquarters. The workshop centered around a significant wish from a child facing a critical illness, and the volunteers dedicated time and energy to help brainstorm ideas to make this wish a reality.
"It was incredibly moving to see how invested each participant was in learning every small detail about our wish child, all to perfect the wish anticipation activities and the wish day they were designing. They truly poured their hearts into every aspect of the planning, as if they were making their own wish come true. Real Wish Makers!" said Alice Abougoche, Fundraising & Marketing Manager, Make-A-Wish.
Mayka Van Acht, VP Human Resources, EMEA who took part in the event said, “Team ADM was happy to be able to contribute to make a difference in the life of a special child and help to make their wish come true. We had great participation and engagement during the workshop to provide the child and their family a joyful experience. We cannot wait to see the pictures and feedback when the wish is granted and becomes a reality."
Make-A-Wish provide children and their families with the hope, courage, and happiness that they need during challenging times. These positive experiences not only uplift the entire family but also play a significant role in enhancing the well-being and recovery of the children.
The wishes offer children precious moments of joy and lasting memories that will remain with them for a lifetime. Their vision is to be able to help all children who have to live with a serious medical their most heartfelt wishes.
Community giving activities at ADM are support through ADM's corporate social investment program, ADM Cares, which helps communities by directing funding, volunteerism, and industry knowledge to initiatives and organizations that drive meaningful social, economic and environmental progress worldwide.
Through ADM Cares matching for volunteer hours, the activity also unlocked a donation to Make-A-Wish Foundation of Switzerland and Liechtenstein to further support their mission.
About Make-A-Wish
Make-A-Wish Foundation of Switzerland & Liechtenstein grants the most heartfelt wishes of children aged between 3 and 18 living with a serious medical condition to give them Hope, Strength and Joy.
A child's life shouldn’t be about illness, hospitals and diagnosis – it should be about wonder, joy and hope. Sometimes, when you are really not well, your dreams become even more important than ever. At Make-A-Wish we work to make these dreams come true for children who have been robbed of their right to a carefree childhood. We ensure that every child, in the company of their family, experiences the most magical of moments.
Make-A-Wish is all about providing unique and treasured moments to very ill children. Moments which will allow them to forget their illness for a while and provide them with beautiful and cherished memories. Getting tips from Roger Federer, panning for gold, flying over the Alps in a helicopter, seeing the sea for the first time, meeting a celebrity hero, being a Chef for a day, or meeting a Nobel physicist at Cern; our wishes are unique and, most importantly, magical.
We work closely with doctors and healthcare professionals throughout Switzerland who refer the children to us. We know what wishes do, and this is the driving force behind why we continue to do what we do to reach out to more and more ill children in Switzerland. Learn more at www.makeawish.ch.
