10/21/2013

DECATUR, Ill., Oct. 21, 2013 — Archer Daniels Midland Company (NYSE: ADM) is introducing ADM CA118, a new low-volatile organic compound (VOC) coalescent, at the Western Coatings Symposium in Las Vegas, Nev., Oct. 20-23.ADM CA118 coalescent is a bio-based ingredient that can replace traditional coalescing solvents and lower the overall paint VOC content. The new coalescent is manufactured for architectural and industrial water-based coatings, as well as printing inks, caulks and adhesives.

“Volatile organic compounds are an environmental concern as more jurisdictions are placing limits on VOC content in products,” said Del Cahill, director of specialty chemicals of ADM Evolution Chemicals. “We are proud to introduce a new product that can help paint and coating producers meet VOC regulations.”

ADM CA118 can be used to wholly or partially replace VOC containing commercial coalescent. The new product joins the ADM Evolution Chemicals family of next-generation industrial chemicals, primarily derived from nature’s renewable sources.
