ADM Milling Celebrates Recent Safety Accomplishments

6/6/2018

CHICAGO, June 6, 2018—ADM Milling was recently recognized by two professional industry associations for its strong safety record in 2017. The business is celebrating the recognition this week as part of the ADM’s 12th annual Global Safety and Health Week, a global event dedicated to reflecting on safety accomplishments and ensuring that safety is a continued priority and focus for all employees.

The American Bakers Association honored 43 ADM Milling locations after the business as a whole recorded a DART (Days Away Restricted or Transferred) rate of .42 and a TCIR (Total Case Incident Rate) of only .73 for the year. The ABA established its Safety Recognition Program in 2016 as a way to recognize individual member company sites that excel in safety while increasing workplace safety awareness and emphasizing the importance of employee safety in the baking industry. Last year, 39 ADM Milling locations were recognized under the program.

In addition, the International Association of Operative Millers honored ADM after 36 Milling locations, representing more than 1,500 employees, completed 2017 without a single recordable safety incident. This is a new all-time milestone for ADM Milling.

“Our highest priority is making sure every single colleague goes home safe to his or her family every single day,” said Mark Kolkhorst, president, ADM Milling. “We have worked hard to instill a culture of safety—one in which safe practices are ingrained in our everyday work. Safety is an ongoing journey, but we are certainly honored by the recognition being given to us by our professional peers, and more importantly, we are proud of our team for the great work they’re doing.”

ADM Milling is one of the world’s largest flour millers, with multiple wheat flour mills in the U.S. as well in Canada, the Caribbean, Central America and the United Kingdom.
