ADM Helps People Facing Food Insecurity in Morelos
ADM donated a cold room to the Food Bank of Morelos (BAMX of Morelos), an enclosed space that allows a low temperature to be maintained to preserve perishable products.
This infrastructure will allow the BAMX of Morelos to significantly expand its food preservation capacity and increase the storage of perishable products by more than 20 thousand kilograms. This will generate a greater reach of its food donation program for people in vulnerable situations in the state.
This donation is part of the actions carried out by ADM through its social investment program, ADM Cares, which supports initiatives and organizations focused on promoting social, economic and environmental progress, focusing on areas such as food security and the fight against poverty.
For the delivery of the cold room, a ceremony was held and attended by Aurora Adame, director of Government Relations for North Latin America at ADM, and the General Director of the BAMX Morelos Network, Mariana Jiménez.
"We are committed to the growth of the state of Morelos through investments and job creation, such as the recent inauguration of our wet food plant for pets, however, our work would not be complete if we did not get closer to the community most in need. Today we deliver a cold room that will allow the food that the Food Bank of Morelos manages to recover to be preserved better and for longer. We appreciate the trust of the BAMX Network and look forward to continuing to work together to build a better future," said Adame.
The Food Bank of Morelos noted, "ADM donations have become fundamental pillars in our fight to promote a future in which food security is a reality for all. The acquisition of the cold room will also allow us to optimize the distribution of food and ensure that it arrives at its destination in optimal condition. This is important for families who depend on our support to have access to a variety of fresh and nutritious foods."
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, ADM and the Food Bank of Morelos worked together to rescue a number of Animal Conservation Centers such as Zoofari in Morelos, where around 36 tons of food were donated for animals of different species. Additionally, ADM donated more than 160 tons of food in response to the increase in abandoned pets during the health emergency.
