Growing Sustainably: The Mendota Field to Market Wheat Program

We’re always aiming to keep sustainability at the forefront of our business. The latest in a long line of environmental efforts is an initiative at our state-of-the-art flour mill in Mendota, Illinois, that bridges the gap between sustainability and success for our suppliers.

The Mendota Field to Market wheat program is a partnership between ADM, PepsiCo and Practical Farmers of Iowa (PFI). It assists farmers who implement practices that reduce emissions, improve land resiliency and support water quality. The primary focus of the project is to partner with growers to introduce key sustainable agricultural practices like extended crop rotations and cover crops to more than 1,000 acres.

“ADM serves a key role in uniting the entire supply chain, and it gives us the opportunity to help build a more sustainable food system,” said ADM President of Milling Tedd Kruse. “We are excited to partner with local Illinois farmers, PepsiCo and Practical Farmers of Iowa to enable sustainable outcomes and drive positive impact.”

This marks ADM’s ninth Field to Market initiative. We’ve already integrated 735,000 acres into the program to date, which continue to drive positive impact and sustainable supply chain outcomes for our suppliers and partners.
