PEORIA, Ill., May 25, 2012—American River Transportation Company (ARTCO) christened the newest member of its tugboat fleet, the M/V Prairie Land, Thursday evening in Peoria, Ill.  ARTCO is a wholly owned subsidiary of Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM).

“Our focus is to deliver products to their final destination in a safe and efficient manner,” said Royce Wilken, president, ARTCO. “Expanding our fleet with this new vessel will allow us to do that even more effectively.”

The M/V Prairie Land, with 1,200 horsepower, was built by James Built, LLC, in Paducah, Ky. and measures 64.5 feet by 28 feet.

ARTCO operations include line-haul vessels, harbor boats, covered hopper barges, tank barges, harbor and fleeting services, and a full-service shipyard. ARTCO also provides a third party towing service on the Lower Mississippi, Upper Mississippi, Illinois, and Ohio Rivers.
