Hazleton Student Wins ADM Scholarship

HAZLETON, Pa., July 2, 2012 – Archer Daniels Midland Company (NYSE: ADM) announced today that Kayle Smith has been awarded a college scholarship through the ADM Scholarship Program.

“ADM is proud to sponsor this scholarship for Kayle,” said Erik Lightner, plant manager for ADM’s Cocoa facility in Hazleton. “Outstanding young leaders like Kayle have already shown tremendous dedication, ability, and commitment to their communities, and we are pleased to help provide them the opportunity for future achievements.”

Smith, a graduate of Hazleton Area High School, hopes to attend Albright College and plans to study biology. Her father is an operator at ADM’s cocoa facility in Hazle

The ADM Scholarship Program was created to assist the children of ADM active employees with the costs associated with a college education. Winners were selected on the basis of high scores on the PSAT/NMSQT; academic record throughout high school; significant activities and contributions to the school and community; the school’s recommendation of the candidate; and a student essay.
