Lincoln Student Wins ADM Scholarship

LINCOLN, Neb., July 2, 2012 – Archer Daniels Midland Company (NYSE: ADM) announced today that Samuel Baumgartner has been awarded a college scholarship through the ADM Scholarship Program.

“ADM is proud to sponsor this scholarship for Samuel,” said Rick Crowe, regional manager for ADM’s oilseed processing. “Outstanding young leaders like Samuel have already shown tremendous dedication, ability, and commitment to their communities, and we are pleased to help provide them the opportunity for future achievements.”

Baumgartner, who was homeschooled in Lincoln, plans to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. His father previously worked at ADM’s soybean processing facility in Lincoln and is now the plant manager at ADM’s soybean processing facility in Deerfield, Mo.

The ADM Scholarship Program was created to assist the children of ADM active employees with the costs associated with a college education. Winners were selected on the basis of high scores on the PSAT/NMSQT; academic record throughout high school; significant activities and contributions to the school and community; the school’s recommendation of the candidate; and a student essay.
